1 tablespoon vegetable oil
1 medium onion, sliced
1 package (14 ounces) frozen beef or chicken sandwich steaks, separated into 8 portions
1 can (10-3/4 ounces) condensed cheddar cheese soup
1 jar (about 4-1/2 ounces) sliced mushrooms, drained
4 pita breads (6-inch), cut in half

Heat oil in a 10-inch skillet over medium-high heat. Add the onion. Cook and stir until the onion is tender. Add the sandwich steaks and cook until browned. Pour off any fat.

Add soup and mushrooms. Reduce heat to low. Cook and stir until mixture is hot and bubbling. Divide and spoon meat mixture into pita halves.
