1/2 cup (1 stick) butter or margarine
1 cup all-purpose flour
2 teaspoons baking powder
1 cup granulated sugar
1 cup milk
1/2 teaspoon salt
1 quart marionberries, fresh or frozen
Additional granulated sugar (1/2 to 1 cup)

Melt butter in a 11 x 7-inch baking dish in oven set at 350F. Mix flour, baking powder, sugar, milk and salt. Pour batter over melted butter. Place berries on batter. Sprinkle fruit with additional sugar to produce desired sweetness.
Bake at 350F. for 45 minutes to 1 hour. Dough will rise above fruit during baking.
May be served with ice cream, heavy cream or whipped cream.
