4 cups diced apples
2 cups granulated sugar
1/2 cup vegetable oil
1 cup chopped nuts
2 eggs, well beaten
2 teaspoons vanilla extract
2 cups all-purpose flour
2 teaspoons baking soda
1 teaspoon cinnamon
1 teaspoon salt

Topping:
1 cup firmly packed brown sugar
1/4 cup milk
1/2 cup (1 stick) margarine

Grease and flour a 13 x 9 x 2-inch pan. Mix together thoroughly apples and sugar. Add oil, nuts, eggs and vanilla. Sift together flour, soda, cinnamon and salt; add to apple mixture. Spread in prepared pan. Bake in 350F. oven for 1 hour.
Remove from oven. Punch holes in cake with a fork.
In a medium saucepan combine topping ingredients; bring to a boil. Cook for 2-1/2 minutes. Pour over cake.
