Comments: DO NOT substitute sweetened condensed milk for evaporated milk.

3 cups granualted sugar
3/4 cup (1-1/2 sticks) butter or margarine
2/3 cup (5 fl. oz. can) evaporated milk
1 (12 ounce) package (2 cups) semi-sweet chocolate chips
1 (7 ounce) jar marshmallow creme
1 cup chopped nuts
1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Combine sugar, margarine and milk in heavy 2-1/2 to 3-quart saucepan; bring to full rolling boil, stirring constantly. Continue boiling 5 minutes over medium heat or until candy thermometer reaches 234F., stirring constantly to prevent scorching. Remove from heat; stir in chocolate chips until melted. Add marshmallow creme, nuts and vanilla; beat until well blended. Pour into a greased 13 x 9 x 2-inch pan. Cool at room temperature; cut into squares.
Makes 3 pounds.
