3/4 cup (1-1/2 sticks) butter or margarine
2-1/4 cups (1 pound) firmly packed brown sugar
3 eggs
2-3/4 cups all-purpose flour
2-1/2 teaspoons baking powder
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/2 cup chopped walnuts
1 (6 ounce) package (1 cup) chocolate chips

Melt the butter or margarine in a large pan. Add brown sugar and mix well. Cool slightly. Add eggs, one at a time, beating well after each addition. Sift together the flour, baking powder and salt. Add the flour mixture to mixture in pan. Mix well. Add nuts and chocolate chips. Pour into greased 13 x 9 x 2-inch pan. Bake at 350F. for 25 to 30 minutes. When almost cool, cut into squares.
